We operate a Specialized School for Children with Intellectual Disabilities (ID) under the DDRS scheme, alongside a comprehensive special education program for children with diverse disabilities.

These are some of the many ways the non-governmental organisations in India for persons with disabilities help to create a more inclusive society. However, to accomplish this feat, support is needed from all sections of the society.

Through continuous special education, individualized guidance, and encouragement in academics, social skills, and sports, Rick began to make steady progress.

Shabnam Khatun, a bright 9-year-old girl from Paschim Medinipur, West Bengal, has shown remarkable improvement through determination and care.

The Education and Training Division of Asha Bhavan Centre, under the auspices of the Dominique Lapierre Education Project, has established 10 (ten) pre-primary and primary schools across remote villages in various districts of West Bengal.

Rather than opting for a conventional 9-to-5 job after graduation, Aftab chose the path of innovation and entrepreneurship. With a vision to create impactful digital solutions, he founded his own software company — Yolopment I.T. Solution — headquartered in Rampurhat, Birbhum, with a branch office in Berhampur, Murshidabad.

Asha Bhavan Centre implements a Community-Based Rehabilitation (CBR) project across several districts of West Bengal to support persons with disabilities in meeting their diverse needs. The project provides therapeutic interventions, educational support, aids and appliances, and promotes economic empowerment to improve their overall quality of life.

To provide additional learning support and guidance to children from economically disadvantaged and marginalized families studying in government primary schools, we have established 20 community-based coaching centers that are now running at full capacity. These centers have become a vital platform for academic enrichment and personal growth.

PBSSD It is an autonomous society under the Technical Education, Training & Skill Development Department of the Government of West Bengal, focused on implementing skill development programs for youth population to improve the scope of gainful employment and entrepreneurial opportunities.

Through these four vocational modules, a total of ---women have enhanced their professional abilities and taken significant steps toward financial empowerment. The SADHANA centre continues to create pathways for inclusive growth, enabling participants to contribute meaningfully to their communities and lead dignified, self-reliant lives.

The Diploma in Special Education (Intellectual Disability) provides trainees with a comprehensive understanding of intellectual disabilities and their impact on learning and development. The curriculum explores child development, learning psychology, and the unique needs of students with intellectual disabilities.

We also maintain an academic partnership with the University of Applied Sciences and Arts of Southern Switzerland (SUPSI). As part of their global training requirement, final-year students from the Therapy Sciences Department undertake a three-month internship with us to gain practical exposure to rehabilitation systems in low- and middle-income settings. This year, four SUPSI students successfully completed their internship, contributing to therapy sessions, assessments, parental training, and field-based rehabilitation activities.

Since December 2022, Asha Bhavan Centre has been implementing the “Open Shelter” Project under the Mission Vatsalya scheme.

The DISHA Project is an important program aimed at offering early intervention and school readiness support to children with disabilities aged 0–10 years, in accordance with the National Trust Act.
