“Sadhana” Integrated Child Development Program for rural malnourished Children.
To combat the widespread challenge of malnutrition in India, the Dairy Farm at the Kerodanga Centre was established in January 2023 as a key component of the Integrated Child Development Program, supporting the national mission of “Kuposhan Mukt Bharat Abhiyan.”
This initiative became a reality through the heartfelt contributions of the students, friends, and family members of Prof. Dr. Shankar Nath Mukherjee, whose generosity laid the foundation for meaningful change. With their support, a well-equipped cow shelter was constructed, and ten cows were procured, enabling a consistent daily production of 100–110 liters of fresh cow milk.
This steady supply of nutritious milk—supplemented with bananas—now forms a critical dietary intervention for 250 malnourished children, offering them the vital nutrients they need for healthy growth and development. The project continues to stand as a testament to collective compassion and a strong step toward reducing child malnutrition in vulnerable communities.
